Dear Jillian: You are right. Do not, not, not take up the Tracy Anderson Method if you are pregnant unless you're also an expert on prenatal fitness and know how to modify it so you don't hurt yourself or the baby. Try the Collage Video website. They have a section for pregnancy. Also, Erin O'Brien for Acacia Lifestyle has some that look promising. (Acacialifestyle.com). She was a prenatal fitness person for Crunch Gyms at one time. There are no doubt also books and YouTube videos available. Hope this helps.

I really like your review. I feel the same way the cardio killed my legs which I didn't mind but I would like to feel it all over my body. There is not enough instruction, it is very hard to follow, You just watch her and try to keep up. Even when you do the toning you have to keep your eyes on the screen to see when she switches or count it out yourself. There is not step by step break down, nothing. Between the menu and the workouts you are doomed to fail if you aren't as experienced in workout out or dieting. I have done lots of different workouts and I see similarities in certain moves and things she does so I am not sure what she invented in it exactly. The exhaustion of each muscle is nice but not enough for the money spent on it.

I am a cyclist, advising to stop all other methods of work outs is unbelievably ABSURD and that biking will bulk up muscles is an out right lie. My body and muscles are incredibly lean, I do not do any other weight lifting --my arms, legs and core muscles are defined, strong and toned-- strictly from dedicating hours of training on the bike. Before I starting cycling my body didn't look anything like it does now-- Tracy, you are ignorant.

Now its winter and I am pregnant and wanted to start incorporating some strength training videos. I was impressed when I came across Tracy Andersen's ad's and her celebrity backers but after the insight of this review I am definitely staying clear of Tracy. I am desperately seeking some great videos, if any one has any recommendations please advise!

Many thanks!

Thank you for the comprehensive review. I've been doing the Metamorphosis program for 15 days now, and am startng to feel the knee pain from doing the dance cardio (which I've never felt in my life). I started the program to only tone, as I did not need to lose any extra weight. However, I've found that I've lost too much weight from doing the dance cardio and don't look as healthy as I'd like to. During these workouts, I have thought how I got toned faster doing pilates only 3 days a week. However, I agree with most postings that my butt is in great shape. I have been doing the dance cardio religiously but I know think that I will hold off on it and try something else, but stick to TA's muscle structure excercises.

After 18 months of doing the Tracy Anderson Method-starting with the Post Pregnancy DVD, then her Mat & Perfect Design Series, and finally her Metamorphosis Omnicentric. By the last level of Meta my pelvic ligaments were shot. Even now, 6 months later, I still have issues with certain movements. There is a common thing with her method also developing 'donut abs' which are bellies toned on the outside but flabby around the belly button. Her form for ab work is very bad. You will get good results with your legs, but my strongest advice is to mix it up if you do her method, absolutely do not follow her advice to ditch all other forms of fitness.

I would recommend the book Tracy Anderson 30 Day Method -- it comes with a DVD. We started with that (my 15 yr old and I) and I have never in my life had those abs or legs or arms... loved it. We are getting Metamorphosis. I can try to complain all I want about little things that annoyed me, but it worked like nothing else.

I've been doing Metamorphis for about 70 days now, and have awful shin splints - so I was interested in these comments. I heard about this program from a friend, who really ended up with some fantastic results, so I didn't do much of my own research before investing in this work out program. I truly love the program, and have seen results I am proud of, but my shin splints have been holding me back lately. They become so painful during the workout that I often have to stop and ice them, and on days when I don't even do my workout, but am on my feet a lot (for example - going to the mall), they are always killing me.

Do you think there is any modifications that can be made to the cardio routine to make it less painful, or is stopping altogether the only option? And how dangerous is it to continue working out through the pain of shin splints?

I did P90X, and followed the program and diet religiously. My husband lost 30 lbs and I gained 12. I was pissed! Despite the fact that EVERYONE says women don't bulk up, it IS possible. None of my clothes fit, not my bras, the thighs on my jeans, or my calf height boots. I was bulkier everywhere! I love a good "bleeding internally" workout, which was what attracted me to P90X. I LOVED the intensity, but I was NOT happy with the results. I am still struggling to lose the first ten I wanted to lose, as well as the 12 lbs I gained on P90X. I have a dance background, like many who have commented throughout this thread, and have been doing aerobic exercise for years. P90X is a fantastic program, as long as you are not prone to "bulking up".

If you don't like "Insanity" you might try Slim in 6 or Slim Series. They're also from Beachbody.
