Pizza from scratch

Lately, we haven’t been feeling like cooking dinner every night.  But I still don’t want to eat processed food.  So we’ve been making batches of whole wheat pizza dough and freezing them.  We also freeze some marinara sauce (tomatoes, garlic, basil, and salt).  Both freeze well and it takes only about 20 minutes to prepare [...]

Home

I netflixed a documentary called Home last week.  It was produced by the same people that made the Discovery series Planet Earth (something we love to watch as a family).  I watched the movie over the course of several sittings, often with my 4 year old.  The cinematography is breathtaking and the pace of the [...]

Juice

Dr. Oz show

Doctor Oz now has a talk show that airs on weekdays on ABC.  I think Dr. Oz has some great advice and I love his emphasis on prevention and good nutrition.  The show itself isn’t the best production quality but the information he has to share is useful.  This week, he talked about the 5 [...]

3-4 zucchinis
3-4 medium potatoes, peeled
4 onions, chopped
1/2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp nutmeg
4 tbsp parsley
16 oz tomato sauce
1 [...]

Want to save water?

My husband has a t-shirt he got in college that says “Save Water, Drink Beer.”  If only it were that easy…
We try to conserve water around our house by watering the grass less, using a high efficiency washing machine, running our dishwashers on the light cycle, and using low flow shower heads.  But I recently [...]
