Wash your produce
I realize that many of us are reigning in the spending these days and that one of the first things to go may be higher priced organic food. If this is the case for your family, I want to remind you to wash your produce really well. And not just with water. Take a drop of dish soap (this is when having a more natural dish soap is nice because it won’t make your produce smell) and really scrub your apples, cucumbers, bell peppers, and anything else that readily lends itself to this type of washing. This is just as effective as more expense produce washes at removing waxes and pesticide residues. And remember that certain produce is more important than others to buy organic.
