One year ago almost to the day, I posted an entry about the Environmental Working Group’s Human Toxome Project and the corresponding Body Burden website. I recently stumbled across a video of Ken Cook, co-founder and president of the EWG, discussing the Human Toxome Project, how the study was conducted, its results, its implications, and what we can do. It is powerful; every parent should watch it. Ken Cook is witty and entertaining, but also serious. I don’t want to reveal too much but please take 20 minutes and watch this video in its entirety. It’s so important that parents try to do something themselves, as well as put pressure on politicians to make the policy changes needed to protect us all–especially those who cannot protect themselves.

Also see the EWG’s healthy home tips for parents. I was unaware of tip #11, which says that omega-3 fatty acids can offset some of the toxic affects of lead and mercury. Very interesting.
