Bye bye bulge

With summer just around the corner and the last few pounds of baby weight lingering around my waist, I’ve been thinking a lot lately about the best way to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. There are a lot of ways out there to loose weight and I’m not a fan of many of them because at the end of the day, I just love to eat! And in order to loose weight, you must burn more calories than you take in.

This is why when I’ve wanted to loose weight in the past, I’ve almost always increased my exercise. Then I could still eat heartily but not show it. As an added bonus, I love being physically fit and “ready for anything.” But with two young children in the house these days, I just don’t have the time I wish I had for long workouts. So what’s Plan B?

My second favorite way to loose weight is to cut out all refined sugar and processed foods. This is not easy, but it’s so healthy and so effective. You can eat whatever you want, so long as it’s not processed. So no crackers, cereal, snack bars, etc, etc. This is effective because processed foods are higher in calories, while fresh foods are higher in nutrients, water, and fiber. I went on this diet for health reasons (based on a nutritionist’s recommendations) more than a decade ago and lost weight on it. Ever since, when I’ve wanted to get extra healthy or drop a few pounds, this has been one of my favorite ways to do it. The best thing about it? I can actually loose weight eating nuts!

This week, I’ve decided to give the no sweets and minimal processed food diet a go, at least as much as I  can. I just have a few pounds to loose and I’m ready to get into my old jeans. Wish me luck!!
