I had “morning sickness,” which was more like all day sickness for me, with both of my pregnancies. But the second time, it was so bad that it lasted the entire 9 months and I had to take medication. Yuck! But there’s a recent report that all that sickness may be a good thing. Health magazine (Dec 2007) reports that new research from the University of Buffalo, New York, has found that women with some morning sickness during pregnancy may be 30% less likely to develop breast cancer, while those with severe nausea may be as much as 40% less likely. Researchers aren’t exactly sure why, but suspect that the higher levels of certain hormones during pregnancy could be responsible for the nausea and the risk reduction. I’m glad to hear that there’s something positive from those 40 weeks of feeling miserable.

Hooray for feeling awful for nine months!
I hope my all-day sickness with Cora was plenty enough to get the protection, and I can have less-sick pregnancies in the future.
