My understanding is that most air filters will filter out particulates like dander, dust, and allergens (especially HEPA filters).  But they are poor at filtering out gases, like VOCs.  If you have allergies or asthma, an electric filter might be worth it, but if not, I personally wouldn&#039;t bother.  They are hundreds of dollars and usually require frequent filter changes.
